All performances are held at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen at 8 p.m., except for Sunday matinees, which are at 2:30 p.m. Reservations are required. 26th ANNUAL ONE-ACT SHOWCASE
Three one-act plays featuring the winners of the HTC Playwriting Competition. The area’s oldest one-act festival will once again feature the winners of the annual HTC One-Act Playwriting Competition. Winning titles are "Four and Twenty Wretched Dates," "A State of Being Normal," and "#4 Three Gables Run." Tickets on sale Jan 9.

SEE HOW THEY RUN
A farce by Philip King. Galloping in and out of the four doors of an English vicarage are an American actor and actress (he is now stationed with the air force in England), a cockney maid who has seen too many American movies, an old maid who “touches alcohol for the first time in her life,” and four men in clergyman suits presenting the problem of which is which – and one is an escaped prisoner! “Breathless show, fast tempo, plenty of laughs.” - Variety. Tickets on sale Apr 2.

THE COCOANUTS
A musical comedy with music and lyrics by Irving Berlin and book by George S. Kaufman. The Marx Brothers are back and infiltrating the Florida real estate boom circa 1920. They find Margaret Dumont, jewels to steal, pockets to pick, lovers to confuse, hotel guests to confound, and a treasure trove of songs by Irving Berlin, including favorite standard, “Always.” Brush up on your slap-stick and head south for a feast of wild hilarity with Groucho, Harpo, Chico and Zeppo! Tickets on sale June 11.

On-the-Air Radio Players Auditions for “Return of the Superhero”
Sun & Mon, Jan 29 & 30, 7 p.m.
Director Terry Menefee-Gau will be seeking a company of 8-12 men and women for voices and sound effects operation for the radio broadcast to be performed March 6 & 7. Readings will be from the script.

Henrico Theatre Company Auditions for “See How They Run”
Mon & Tue, Mar 5 & 6, 7 p.m.
Director Richard Koch will be seeking six men and three women, age 20-65. Readings will be from the script. Rehearsals will begin late March for a May 4-20 run.

Henrico Theatre Company Auditions for “The Cocoanuts”
Sun & Mon, May 6 & 7, 7 p.m.
Director Amy Perdue will be seeking six men and four women, age 20-60 for principal roles plus a small singing-dancing ensemble. Those auditioning should prepare a short song (accompanist provided) and be prepared for movement. Readings will be from the script. Rehearsals will begin late May for a July 13-29 run.


Dance Clubs

Ballroom Dance Club
USA Dance, Inc. is a volunteer organization committed to promoting ballroom dance as a social event. Dances are held the first Saturday of each month at Moody Middle School and the third Saturday at Deep Run Recreation Center from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Information: Phil Sisk, 447-0175.

The Candlelight Club
Members can develop and enhance their skills in ballroom dance. Dances are held on the third Friday of each month at Belmont Recreation Center from 7-10 p.m. Information: Gail McGhee, 357-6450.

Colonial Dance Club
Dedicated to perpetuating English country dances that were favorites in both England and Colonial America during the 1700s. The club meets every Wednesday from 8-10 p.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church. German Folk Dancing
"Hirshjaeger Dancers," Henrico's German Folk Dance Club and Virginia's only authentic schulpattler dance group. Beginning and intermediate dance levels for ages 16 to adult. Meetings held on the first, third, and fifth Fridays of each month from 8-10 p.m. at Three Chopt Presbyterian Church. Information: Mark Cheek, 541-5400.

International Folk Dance Club
This dance club celebrates dance from 22 countries. Membership is open to anyone regardless of dancing experience and a partner is not necessary. Meetings held on the first, third, and fifth Friday of each month from 7:30-10:30 p.m. at Dumbarton Elementary School. Information: Cindy Stockdon, 261-3624.

Square and Round Dance Clubs
Want to learn America's official dance form with a fun group of folks? The Henrico Division of Recreation and Parks sponsors many square and round dance clubs. A free brochure with program dates, times, and locations is available by calling Amy Perdue at 501-5138.  


Music Groups

Henrico Community Band
This is an all-volunteer concert band that performs at various public and private events throughout the year. Rehearsals held on Thursday evenings from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at Tuckahoe Middle School. Information: Amy Perdue, 501-5138.

Henrico Concert Band
This all-volunteer band rehearses on Mondays from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at Lakeside Baptist Church, 7401 Woodman Road. The band provides music for many events and organizations throughout the year. Information: Amy Perdue, 501-5138.

Henrico Pops Chorus
This volunteer group performs a range of song types at public and private events. No experience or audition is required. Rehearsals are held Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at Lakeside United Methodist Church. Information: Amy Perdue, 501-5138.

27th Annual One-Act Playwriting Competition
The 27th Annual One-Act Playwriting Competition is underway with plays and musicals being considered. The winning playwright will receive a $300 award. The deadline for submission is July 1, 2012. Please call 501-5138 for an entry brochure.
